Since 1984 Norman Cabrera has lent his talents as a designer, sculptor and makeup FX artist to some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters and played a key role in the design and creation of many iconic creatures and characters. His passion for movies and making monsters began at a very early age. Inspired by Classic Monster Movies, Star Wars, and the original Planet of the Apes series, he began creating his own line of masks as a teenager. At the age of 20 he got his start in films with Oscar winning make-up legend, Rick Baker. As part of Rick's core team of artists, he would go to work on Harry and The Hendersons, Coming to America, Gremlins 2, Gorillas in the Mist, Men in Black 3 and more.
For over three decades Norman's art has been a mainstay of Horror and Fantasy FX films. He has contributed to multitude of films and TV shows including Hellboy I & II, The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Star Trek Beyond, Kill Bill, Cabin in the Woods, From Dusk Till Dawn and many more. He’s worked in conjunction with the biggest FX studios and celebrated filmmakers including Guillermo Del Toro, Quentin Tarantino, and Robert Rodriguez. In addition to film work, he has also provided stage design and FX make-up for such noted musical acts as The Ramones, Danzig, The Misfits and Rob Zombie.
Based in Los Angeles, Norman's recent projects include creature and makeup FX design and creation for Guillermo Del Toro's, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters 2020 and James Wan's Malignant.
